My daughter is starting school in less then two weeks its her first year, she has learned a lot over the summer, they had told me that she shouldn't be put in kindergarten because she didnt know how to spell her name or count to 5, well even then she knew how to count to five but she still doesn't like to do it on demand, but now she can write her name sometimes she gets the U mixed up for an O in her name but she is doing much much better with it, she knows a lot of the things they want her to know but when she is put on the spot she goes blank or something, I am excited for her to go to school I can't believe it's here already, its like a turning point, I say I'm not going to cry when she goes but I know I will cause I know that after that first day of school she is going to grow up so much faster :(.

They told me my daughter shouldn't start kindergarten when she did because she had a summer birthday and was shy. But you know what it worked out just fine and now she almost always makes the A or B Honor Roll. I knew my daughter, they did not. I did pretty good with both of my kids by not crying when they first left and got on the bus. But later in the day I went into their room with laundry or something and saw that my child wasn't in their room and then I cried. It was like it finally hit me that those days of my kids & me being together always were gone. But I knew that they would like and needed to go to school and we always have summer together. Enjoy your little one. My son is starting college on Tuesday!!! They do grow up too fast.

I hate that they always try to group kids by statistics. Every child is different and learns things at a different pace. They always seem to underestimate kids too. They're alot smarter than they get credit for. I cried when my son first went to school. He's 7 now...it does get easier the older they get.

Well good for your daughter, she is getting all grown up. I know it is kind of a sad time for you, you will miss having her around all day. But she will really enjoy being around all the other kids, and learing everthing she needs to know.I can remember back when my kids started school and they are 28 and 30 years old now.Boy does time fly..Enjoy every mment with her that you can, they grow up so very fast.Good luck to the both of you..
