Do you ever have headaches that last all day long? Yesterday I woke up with a headache and went to bed with one. I took ibuprofen and it knocked the pain down some but didn't get rid of the headache all the way. I hate days like that. Unfortunately I have them quite often.

I thankfully do not have headaches that last all day. Quite frankly, I probably don't have over 3 headaches a year. I am so sorry to hear that you have so many headaches, sunnflr. I guess you've already looked for the more obvious causes of the headaches, like dehydration, etc. I hope your headache is gone by now and that you never have another one. Take care.

They are most often tension headaches, but I also have weather related headaches. Those really suck because I can't control the weather..lol. I can try to relax and control my stress level some, but can't stop the rain.

Have you ever tried any of the acupressure techniques? I don't know hardly anything about them, but I understand that if a person grasps the "web" of skin between the thumb and index finger with the other thumb and fingers and apply subtle pressure (squeeze), a headache is supposed to subside. For some reason, I remember hearing about that somewhere, probably on TV. There are many techniques to relax (i.e. to oppose the feeling of tension.) Deep breathing and use of visual imagery are two such techniques. There's a wealth of info on the internet about each of these strategies. The theory is that one cannot be tensed and relaxed at the same time as these are opposing feelings. Therefore, if you learn how to train yourself to relax, then it is not possible to be tense at the same time. Well, there's my two cents' worth! Anyhoo, I hope you find something soon that helps to relieve the headaches. And I suspect if you could stop the rain, you'd be a famous young lady!

LOL yeah if I could stop the rain everyone would love me. I've tried different stress relief techniques. One problem is my sleeping situation. It's caused by the fibro, then not sleeping makes everything else worse, then the fibro acts up again. It's a vicious cycle. If I could get more sleep I'd feel better all around.

I've experience headache especially when I am sick. it was so hard for me to get up from bed. I am not use of taking medicines. whenever I do have a headache, I will just rest or sometimes put it into sleep.

I only take medicine if the headache sticks around for more than a few hours with rest. I don't want to become resistant to ibuprofen because it's all I can take for my fibro pain. I have reactions to other medicines.

I typically find mine are allergy related. When I take something like ibuprofen it doesn't work. I then need to take something for allergies and it works a bit better but not great. The weather affects a lot of it for me. I always though rain would dampen the pollen and so I wouldn't be effected as much since everything was watered down and less likely to be air borne but that is not the case for me. Rain makes it worse. To add to the problem, I find my allergies get worse each year so my past experience doesn't really help in comparing what I am feeling to a diagnosis/cause. Oh allergies - you've just gotta hate them!

I take allergy/sinus medication all the time. They only cause headaches if I miss my medicine. I have weather related headaches because of my fibromyalgia and stress headaches.

Yes, I do. I even wrote a post about asking how to get rid of it. I think it's my sinuses but every time I'd bend over the pounding and throbbing in my head was horrid!

If your sinus's are that bad you might have to go to the doctor and get an antibiotic to clear it up. If I don't take my medicine mine will turn into sinutitis which requires stronger medication.

I had one just this past week, I took my Ibuprofen and slept most of the day, by bedtime I was wide awake and couldn't get to sleep at all.. I may have one or two of these a year but when I do, they knock me down for the day.. I hate to have one as I know that I will be out for a complete day.. I hope you get to feeling better soon..

Yeah and another reason I hate having a headache is because I know the next day I'll be wiped out also. Having a headache all day seems to really knock me for a loop and wear me out for a few days afterwards. I hope not to have another of these really bad ones any time soon. Hope you don't either!
