Do you have a habit of writing a diary and if so do you preserve them for years?

writing a diary - Habit of writing a diary

I never write a diary. In my earlier childhood days, I had something called a scribble book. I wrote everything I thought of. But I never write personal matters. Even after growing up, I never wrote a diary. My nephew writes the incidents in a diary before going to bed. She does this daily. She still has the diaries she wrote 10 years before. I really admire her for this. Do you have the habit of writing a diary? Do you preserve them for the next year too or you throw it after the year ends?

yes reading them back surprises us. Sometimes we would have forgotten the incidents..reading back makes us cherish the moments, if it was a good one.

I always feel really silly if I read back on some of the things I've written about my life. I think "Did I really feel that? I must have been crazy". It always makes me cringe. I suppose that shows me that I have changed though, when I do not feel the same as I used to, so I guess it is a good thing that it makes me cringe!

I used to. I had a few diaries, but some were burned before I moved here. I made a new one but stopped writing it 3 years ago. I didn't even think of it until I found it again. I wasn't hiding it or anything I just never wrote it again and it got lost in time.

pens - collection of pens
yes,it happens. When you forget to use something, in due course you forget that you had something like that. This has happened with my pens. I had a beautiful pair of pens which I took wherever I went. Recently when I bought a new handbag, I put the pens in my cupboard. I forgot about them totally. After 5 months I discovered that I had a good set of pens..

I used to have a diary when I was in my high school and university years. But as years passed and became busier with work and family. Now I smile and just enjoy when I got time to read my diaries.

As we grow up, it is difficult to schedule out a separate timing for diary writing. And also it becomes a waste of time to write down things.

i remember having a diary when i was still in grade school until high school. i started writing in my diary when i was still 12 years old. at that time it is my only shoukder to cry on whenever i have problems and i have a happy day. its my habit that at the end of the day, i will write everything that i have been through and the things that i have done for the whole week.

Quite interesting..Those are the days wherein you will not have that much commitments, problems and responsilbilities. The lifestyle would be different. The aim, and the expectations will be very simple and different. So the outlet for problems would also be very simple. But as we grow we change a lot and loose them all.

I do keep diaries. Not only does it help sometimes to write things down but it helps also going back and reading them. Seeing how much I have grown and issues that I have conquered. I also hope that as the years go on and my kids grow up, that they will want to read them, especially my daughter. I wish my grandmother would have done that. It would have made me understand her life better. That she was not just "grandma" but a woman just like me.

That is something different. Do you like to show your diary to your daughter? But will you not have some personal issues that you may not wish to reveal to your daughter. But anyway, I hope your diary would help her to know about you more better. Your diary can teach her good values too and also how to face life with courage..

I'd love to write in a diary everyday but in reality I get bored with things quickly. I would probably last a week then skip a night then slowly stop doing it again. I sometimes write in one when I am dealing with a lot of things as it can help to get everything clear in your mind, but if nothing is going on and I'm fairly happy with everyday life then I don't tend to write one!

That is true, it would be very interesting in the initial days..Then you get bored slowly and finally stop writing it. Instead we can leave this habit..lol
