Does failure really show what kind of student I am?

And so I received my test paper from my CMSC 141 exam and realized I failed by a mere one point from the passing grade..I can't really say that I didn't study enough for it, because I certainly did my best and exerted my efforts to understanding and analyzing the topics. But I do admit i have a hard time understanding our teacher during the discussion, so much as not seeing clearly his visual powerpoint representation on the television screen. But alas, I worked seriously long and hard just not to get a failing grade..But still it wasn;t enough... Was it my fault?Maybe... Was it my teachers fault?Maybe... Did God do this on purpoes?maybe... In the end I'm left to say, "Better luck on the next long exams."

Did god do this on purpose? NO Teachers fault? NO Your mistake? YES! Why? Let me make one point very clear. YOU ARE NOT DULL IN ANYWAY YOU ARE NOT INFERIOR TO ANYONE IN YOUR CLASS!!!! Im sure the problems lies in failing to understand the basics. Try to analyze what went wrong? This is the first and most important to being sucsessfull. Try to take help from a friend. Remember one thing. IT IS NOT IMPORTANT TO WORK HARD! ITS IS MORE IMPORTANT TO WORK SMART!!!!!!!!! Ok lets see whats going wrong. What seems to be holding you back from understanding? Well try and help you out

Thanks for the respond..It's true that I had a hard time understanding the discussion from the evry first. SO my basic skills are not that excellent....I think I failed in that part. I'll remember what you said to work smart and not work hard.

Failing in an examination is a failure at some point or the other . You put your best efforts by your standard. But that might have been short of the minimum efforts needed by the standard of the examination. You might have put efforts , but failed to rectify the faults which you somehow have failed to detect and are repeating . You told you don't follow your teachers' presentation . That you left this problem unaddressed might be the criminal . So, that you are still hopeful of doing better next time is the best thing . But you have to look at the matter from a different angle . You have to discuss the matter with your teachers. You have to express your strong will to pass with much better marks next time and that you need their help and guidance .

But what if the teacher is a type of person that's hard to go near to? It is true though that my efforts are of my own standards...

I am sorry you failed in your examination.Sometimes you need to study hard to pass or you have to understand and listen to the teacher while discussing in the class. You have to ask what you didn't understand about the topic. When i was a student i noticed that when i study hard i get a good grades but if not i don't also.So i guess we need concentration for our studies to be rewarded with a good grades also.Anyway, do not feel so bad.Everything happens for a reason.Perhaps God made you realized that you need to study harder to achieve your goal. You still have a chance.Give more time for your studies and make an effort to study more.Good luck for your next exam.

It happens life is not giving chance for argue. No body is ready to listen your argument. they are interested in the result which we have to achieve any way. Go and request your teacher to help. Go with your mom/dad.

Hahaha I can relate to this! I guess we are all trying to pass our subjects now... Getting into higher levels of education will really demand more effort from each one of us. So you better do better in your studies. And I'll do better in my studies too. :) Go!

Failure never means that you are incapable or you can,t do it, it's something we must accept because it,s never possible that everybody gets selected or qualifies exams ,somebody has to fail and it can be anyone,me,u or anyone. Albert Einstein was a failure as a student during his school going period but later he prooved to the whole world that "failure is never final". i recommend u watching indian movie Taare zameen par by Aamir Khan, i,m sure it will help u to come out of ur present state of mind and boost u for ur future. Keep trying, i don,t mean try only one thing, try different things and choose ur interests, decide what u like and what u don,t.And yeah God did it on a purpose and the purpose really is to give u something better than the one u failed in.My best wishes with u.

thanks for the comment...But when can you say that efforts are in the wrong direction when what you're doing is exerting the effort to be on the right one..

dont get so upset, as u hard worked for ur exams. i can understand that it happens sometimes that due to some reason u may not be able to concentrate during the lecture or u might be facing the particular subject difficult but dont lose hope n try for the next time, put all ur efforts n once again try to workhard than before n reach the best results. only one of ur result doesnt reflect what kind of a student u r , the series of ur performances do reflect ur student profile. so workhard n get good results, i believe that always the hardwork u do doesnt go waste n it will surely gain u .

Does failure determine what kind of student you are? Not necessarily. There are plenty of factors. It could be your teacher or the difficulty of your subject. And it could also be because of your study habits or your interest in learning the subject. Among all the possible reasons for failure, I guess the best ones you can work on are the ones that involve you. You can not control your teacher nor can you lessen the difficulty of the subject. Whatever the reason, all you can ever do is never give up and to trust in yourself. :)

failure doesn't mean that you are not a good student.. I myself did experience that too.. i also tried my best but it wasn't that good.. I don't think that you can be blame for this happening.. maybe you are partly wrong since you are the one that answered the exam but it doesn't mean that you are a failure as a student.. This is only a part of your life.. You cannot judged yourself by basing from this experience because you can do better the next time.. every person cannot be dull / cannot be a failure in all her life.. Certain factors also may have affected your result like factors of the surroundings, the environment of the classroom, or maybe the teacher, as you said.. There are really teachers like that who have a kind of teaching that is not really meant for us. They can teach but they doesn't know how to explain well or they cannot communicate effectively with the students. its not yet the end of the world.. like you said, better luck on the next exams.. and moreover, i think that being a optimist really helps.. be confident of your answers and don't let the pressure sink into you..GANBATTE ne!
