Arsenal has signed Manchester United's France international Mikael Silvestre for an undisclosed fee. the 31 year old player who can play at centre back or left back joined united in september 1999 and had one year left on his contract at old trafford. he's made 249 appearences in 9 years for united and was a regular member of the team until vidic arrived. do you think united will miss his experience and was it a good move to sell him to a rival club?

Man Utd sold him may be becoz he was aging and becoming more injury prone. Man utd already have good bench strength in defence like John O'shea, & youngsters Evans And Possebon. So it was a right move.

I think it was a good move to sell him. As you have rightly put it, he was more or less "displaced" by the arrival of Nemanja Vidic, I think it is in the best interest of his career to move him elsewhere. I am sure that is what was taken into account. It was better to sell him off than keep him as a spectator in the team. The man is a footballer and he wants to play football. He has to work to earn his money.

I think selling mika to arsenal wasn't a good view from united point of view because Arsenal is a rival to United for The Crown & no one will like to sell it's player to one of it's major competitors but if had he been sold to any other club it would have been good since he was battling with injuries and tjis was not good news and more over it would give Sir Alex some Extra cash for purchase of Dimi & as well reduction in weekly wages which would reduce burden on the club

Silvestre wasn't playing much lately, so him leaving the club won't affect MU so much, in my opinion. He had his years of glory and lots of god matches in the United red shirt, and for that, I thank him, as a Man Utd fan. I don't now how much he'll be playing for Arsenal either. I don't think Man Utd did wrong to sell him to Arsenal - maybe they just wanted him to go, and if it's a good club that's good for his career. Maybe the move is a last thanking for his services to the club.
