I have recently switched from windows to Ubuntu.I did find it easy to use and user-friendly.There is the software repository in Ubuntu where u stumble upon any software which u intend to use.It is a free software and you can get it download free of charge and you can get the installation disk shipped free of charge.

Hi, welcome to the world of linux. Ubuntu is great linux distribution, that offer nice transition for anyone who have using Microsoft product. Their repository dvd offer huge ready to package. By the way which desktop that you use? KDE or Gnome? I was myself using it before switching to Slackware.

Gnome is well known of using less memory than KDE. It is my choice when I switch to linux. I switch to KDE as I just buy my new PC lately. I found that KDE offer more options in desktop configuration. With a bit more effort to cleaning unused menus and applets, it become my prefered desktop. :)

Yes anything Linux is very good. I'm still waiting for an Ubuntu for the PS3. Ubuntu is my first Linux system and if not for the games and Visual Studio.NET I would have completely switched to a Linux myself. Installation disk shipped free of charge? Can you give me a link to that? I would want that.

I heard of Ubuntu, I have Windows Xp Compac Presario Pentium 4. Could it work on my computer and can I have it so I can switch from one to the other? It does sound interesting. However I want to get a Mac. So will it be able to switch from Mac to Ubuntu.
