Well I live in south Alabaama. I am also a firefighter here in my town. At 12:30am this morning my fire radio goes off. I jump out of bed and start to get dressed. When it announces that we are under a torando watch. So I head back to bed. 4am comes around and the pager goes off again, but this time it is a warning. I rush to get dressed and grab the kids. We get them in the truck and head to station. Well after sitting in station for a hour. We head home as we enter door the pagers go off again letting us know that schools have been cancelled today, because of all the bad weather related to FAY. So when your schools are closed for bad weather. What do you do with your children? We want be doing much, because I have one daughter who has got something wrong with her ears again. Happy MyLotting!!

I am a grandmother and my daughter work during the day and I work nights so I am at home during the day. When we have school closing because of weather she calls me and tell me to go get the kids. I have a sister that's home now because the company she works for closed I am pretty sure she would get them if I can't she has children too in school. What I can't understand is once they had a warning and it was raining cats and dogs, a warning went out and they wanted us to pick the kids up. Wouldn't if be safer if they were to stay in the building than out on the highway in the opening, it was scary. All the parents were there getting there kids, no where to park. You had to park a long ways from the school by the time we got back to the car we were soaked. I did take me 3 umbrellas some of the parents didn't have anything.

OH wow I could never take that. I must say I appreciate all the "public safety workers" I cannot say I envy them either. This being a great example. But for a day off with bad weather, depending on the ages, my family would most likely do their own thing. But if younger I would read to them and do some of those things that we almost never seemed to get to. Like making something craft like that I had on my list or cleaning something. I would consider giving them special chores and allowing them to earn extra credit to a activity of their choice like a 10.00 credit for a movie, movie rental, activity, or tshirt (the school seems to constantly be saying buy a t for this or that). Just a extra 10.00 for whatever there little heart desires if they for instance clean out the 2 "grubbiest" drawers in the kitchen and remove all crumbs from it. Or something like that. Not ness (spelling) a more than 1 hour job but a job that requires actual attention to detail such as the crumbs. Hey if You don't have the 10.00 maybe the neighbor does. God Blesses! Sandy

Well yesterday was a big hassel. From have one daughter who is going to need surgery again. To all the torandos and all the rain. I am so proud to be called a firefighter. I get to stay home and be a firefighter full time, while my soon to be husband paints all the army aircraft full time and is a firefighter part time. Our oldest daughter is wanting to follow in our footsteps and be the next firefighter in the family. My daughters watched movies and colored pictures all day. While the sick daughter slept most of the day. They had their bag packed and sitting by the door in case we had to run out the door and head to the station. Hope you Have a Great Day!!
