I saw this quite a long time ago and found it interesting - does it really work? http://www.blackle.com/On the site it says 789,078.205 Watt hours savedAnd in the about us: Blackle saves energy because the screen is predominantly black. "Image displayed is primarily a function of the user's color settings and desktop graphics, as well as the color and size of open application windows; a given monitor requires more power to display a white (or light) screen than a black (or dark) screen." Roberson et al, 2002Does it really work?

That may be true when the power required to run a monitor is very high . These days the power requirements of monitors came down a lot, so even if it works it is also not much. Also these kind of power saving may hurt your eyes, and what are we going to save them
