I have recently been getting a toothache almost every night. Do any of you know of a good remedy? I have tried: Salt Water Cinnamon Whole Cloves Brushing Mouthwash and a few other things. Please help! Kat

Hi Kat! Pain is typically a sign that something is worng, is the tooth abscessed? Have you broken it perhaps? I am not saying not to seek professional help but I can tell you I had a molar, that was broken.. OMG the pain was incredible, I tried heating up salt placing in a washcloth and applying it to my outside cheek, well heat can causean infection to grow, so before you check it out, I am not sure I would advise that, but it does relieve the pressure. My trick was always this, now giving a little background, you brain can only react to one sensation at a time, you never feel hot & cold at the same time. So if you hold an icecube in the palm of your hand for as long as you can stand it, soon you will not realize the tooth pain, your mind will be focused on the new sensation. I have tried this many times and believe it or not.. it does work! Nancie But don't let it go ok, something may be wrong!

I would actually go to the dentist but, the one that I prefer does not take my medical anymore and it took me so many years just to find him. I may have to see a new one. :( I did recently break the tooth. It didn't seem like anything was wrong with it but, when it broke, there was an inner cavity and now the root is bare.

It most likely is bare, the root. How about trying to contact your dentist and making some sort of payment arrangement? Do you think the tooth is infected? Has it abscessed? Why the heck is it soo dang hard to get care that people actually need, something is wrong with this. No body should suffer because of funds, insurance etc. angers me! I feel your pain, it's the type that brings tears to your eyes, pain won't go away, and you "rock" yourself.. aww I am so sorry Kat! Try the ice "trick" okay? Let me know if it helps! I hope you feel better! HUGS!

The first thing I would recommend is the dentist,I know your scared of the dentist.OK then how about a couple of ibprophen; that always seems to help me. Sometimes I take them before I go to bed and they seem to help me from waking up in the middle of the night with a tooth ache.

I would probably purchase an over-the-counter product like Orajel. It will give you relief. Make sure to see a dentist if the pain does not subside on its own within the next few days, especially if you have not had many toothaches previously. Hope you feel better soon!
