Does a Good Cry Ever Help You?

I had a really good cry this morning... I'm not talking a little boohoo and that was it. I'm talking a gut wrenching, sobbing, mopping at my face with a wash cloth and my eyes hurt after kind of cry. Why what was going on you may ask... for me this morning it was mixture of anxiety at having to go for an ultrasound to make sure my baby is ok and that the placenta is still attached and functioning properly. That and seeing the ex and being frustrated with him and with all the feelings that I still have for him both good and negative and it was mostly the negative stuff that was coming up... the things I don't dare say because I want this to work out for everyone and the last thing a child needs coming into this world is parents who hate each other. So I sat on my bed and bawled like a baby for about ten minutes and felt ten times better. So here is my question to you... do you ever feel better after a good gut wrenching cry and what normally brings it on for you?

A good cry is good for your emotional health as it lets out all the emotions you might have kept closed inside yourself, once you let it all you you suddenly feel a sense of relief. This is best done while leaning on your loved one or someone you can trust and is close to you.

It does! After a good cry I felt like I've poured out every negative feeling I had through my tears and evaporated into thin air. But it was really very painful while doing so. First off, you'd feel like your jaws are fighting with you like having a mind of its own that you couldn't control it by yourself and it keeps on aching while you are sobbing too hard. Second, your eyes hurts so much cuz there are no more enough tears to run down your cheeks but you are still not done crying. Your tummy aches cuz of the contractions you've made while exerting so much effort to let all the feelings out while crying. And lastly, chest pain. Like it'll explode cuz you can't contain it anymore. But after those painful acts while crying, it's over! And I'm feeling so much better.

I feel for you... Sigh, sometimes we just can't stop worrying about the baby in our tummy, I always have that worries too and yes, I also cry when I have those anxieties... However, there are also times that I cry because of another matter and I must admit, I cry every night in my room. I live alone and I suffer my pains alone. Yet, I try really hard not to cry because I'm afraid my little Nicholas might be affected with my depression. I don't want him to have a weak heart or those other implications of babies whose mothers are depressed during pregnancy. I know crying will make me feel better afterwards, at least I was able to release my depression, but as much as possible I hold off my tears, and find something else to get busy with and to block my pains so I won't have to cry over them again. I don't wanna lose or harm my baby because of crying all the time....

I almost hate to admit this, but every day this week I have sat down and just cried. I mostly cry when I am alone..it seems to relieve my stress and make me feel so much better about everything!
