Christmas or your birthday?

Which do you prefer? I like my birthday because it is very individualised - the spotlight is on me, the choices are mine, people are obligated to be nice, etc. But I love Christmas because there's a higher chance of my entire family getting together and I think that this truly outweighs any benefit that individual presents gives you! So which do you prefer? Christmas, or your birthday?

Shared celebration is great, but I guess a downside of Christmas is that it tends to highlight the divisions between differing social groups. The commercialisation of it all is pretty shocking, as well, then you've got issues like people debating whether nativity scenes should have a place in the public sphere, etc. Different beliefs change the practise of Christmas depending on where you are but I agree that it does cause for much happiness!

I prefer Christmas, mainly because i hate all the attention being focused on me. With Christmas, I like the general feel of it, how everyone is more relaxed and happy, and of course, all the food! I'm not christian, so don't celebrate that side of Christmas, but i enjoy having my family around, all the cheesy movies that are played over the holidays, and the general atmosphere at that time of the year.

I had forgotten about the general goodwill that's attached to Christmas. It's always really fun walking past the front windows of department stores and witnessing charity choirs that have assembled. I'm Christian but I'll admit that I get into the family aspect of it more than the religious aspect. I love the Christmas movies too, but they depict a different type of Christmas to the one that we're given living in Australia! I think it would be so much fun to go to Boston or New York or somewhere and have a white christmas! One day... Sigh!

I don't really know. My birthday is so close to Christmas, there isn't much of a difference.

I prefer both my Birthday and Christmas. Both are special in their very own way. n my Birthday the focus is on me and I'm happy about that. But for Christmas the focus is on baby Jesus and I'm really happy about that too. After all he's my god and its because of him I'm here in this world today. So I enjoy celebrating his birthday too. Also during Christmas time the whole atmosphere gets much more lively.
