Are you going to be buying Spore?

I'm torn right now. I really REALLY want to play this game, but at the same time, I do NOT agree with the copy protection they have on it. I buy the game, I own the game. I should not be limited by how many installs I can do. I should not be penalized because of PC problems, crashes, or hardware failures. I should NOT have to contact EA if I need more then three installs due to PC errors. Nor should I have to fight them for the right to more installs due to PC errors. I've heard a number of horror stories regarding the same copy protection on Spore that is on Mass Effect. And frankly it's REALLY turned me off legally buying the game. Never mind I had my pre-order down a year ago. I really do want to suport the game designers, but I don't think supporting a BS copywrite protection is the answer. I would rather spend an extra 10$, get the game directly from the designer, and not have to deal with copyright issues like they have. So what about you? Will you be buying Spore on the 7th?

I am planning on it. I have loved everything that Will Wright has created. So, I know it will be great. Imagine: making whole species. Ahhhhh...how fun. What sort of creator will you be?

As someone's who's had a chance to play it, it's really nowhere near as good as it's hyped to be. Game breakdown: Cell Stage 30 min - 1hr max. A lot of fun, but too short. Needs more parts, more DNA points, and more to do. Creature stage 30 min - 2 hrs max. Constant attacks by Epic nearly unkillable creatures. Creatures are all congregate around the nest, there's no wandering hunting for something. Find a nest you have stuff to kill or befirend. If you're a carnivore, it's nearly impossible to get to the point where you're anything but aggressive. Stuck into a role of either herbivore/carnivore/omnivore as decided by the cell stage. Even though every OTHER part of the body can be moded at this time. Tribal Stage 30 mins - 1 hr max. A JOKE! The stage was lame, simply and just too easy. You either crush everything with an army, or you woo them with instruments. No matter what way you go it's easy. Only challenge is keeping your food up. Civ stage - 1-2 hrs Play any of the civlization games, or the age or empire games. Now limit yourself to 3 kinds of boats, 3 kinds of tanks, and 3 kinds of planes. There's the civ stage. You get a set of religious weapons, which can whoo low moral cities to your side, a war side, to crush cities, and a tradeer set that lets you buy cities. Your starting city type is decided by how you played Tribal stage. Space stage - Endless. The real goal is to reach the center of the universe. But you need to worry about bio disasters, space pirated, and warring neighbors. Not to mention the uberpowerful Groxes.

I can understand what you are saying about that type of copy protection being a problem. I had a number of hardware issues this spring and it would have resulting in multiple installs. My husband used to periodically rebuild his computer for performance which would result in the same situation. They need to come up with a better way.
