"Affluence leads one to vices,adversity to virtue." Is it true in real life?

It is said, wealth and prosperity takes away good virtues and leads one to immoral and evil doings.Adversity greatly transforms one's life and brings in many virtues and positive values. Does this anti thesis reflect real life situations?

i think it does. when u have hard times it makes u appreciatethe good ones.
