2008 Election - The Biggest Sideshow Circus

Is anyone else sick of this sideshow circus we are calling an election besides me? I'm so sick and tired of the media and bloggers being derailed from the real issues talking about crap about the candidates (half of it which isn't even true). It seems like the majority of the stuff I've seen people talking about this summer is how Obama is a Muslim terrorist socialist radical. And now that Palin is in the mix all everyone seems to be talking about is her unmarried 17 year old pregnant daughter and her baby with down syndrome. Can we all just get back to the important issues please?!?!?! How about we talk about the candidates voting records as that sets a huge example for what we will have in store for us if they are elected. I've yet to see anyone talk about Palins voting record aside from her being pro-gun, pro-life, and pro drilling. And I've done my own research and that's all I can find. So if anyone finds any other reliable sources of her voting record please share. I'm really wanting to learn more about Palin but I can't seem to get any information without running into crazy people spouting off their opinions about her family life. Sorry for the rant! But I'm just so sick of this!

My biggest issue with the whole election is that republicans were all over Obama for not being experienced enough, then mccain get this flight attendant to be his running mate and its okay? she experience isn't even brought up? am i the only one who finds that to be unbelievably hypocritical?

Yes I am! And the thing I am most worried about is while all the mudslinging distracts us from what is really going on, I wonder what good ol George W is up to in The White House behind our backs!!!

I've been saying for a long time that this has been nothing more than a circus. I think I came to that conclusion a few months ago when all three (including Hillary at the time) had guest spots on, of all things, a wrestling show. Talk about a circus. **AT PEACE WITHIN** ~~STAND STRONG IN YOUR BELIEFS~~

I enjoy it, maybe because I take it for what it is - a circus. I totally agree with what you say in your post, but if you take into consideration that less than 50 % of eligible voters actually bother to go 'to a voting booth near you', it doesn't surprise then. And I'm not saying this because I ain't an American, whoever wins this election, the outcome will affect all of us. This is a democracy, with all its failings, and the results of any election, everywhere really, depends not on an informed decision the voter takes, but on his/her previous voting behaviour and alliances and, if that's not the case, by marketing. All this show is for the famous swing voter, and the more razzmatazz he gets, the more informed he believes him'herself to be.

Cynddvs, Are you not kicking yourself in the butt for starting this discussion that has turned into a pissing match about my guy is better than your guy. I wish I could point you into a direction but I haven't been able to find anything out about vetos and bills either. And, honestly I have not found anything good except for some of the stuff you already stated. Good luck, it'll be over soon.

I am getting more digusted and disallusioned every day. It seems to me that the old saying that "There are none so blind as those, that will not see and none so deaf as those that will not hear” I think we have reached that point It is hard to find what Obama voted in issues as he missed 290 votes 45.5% which is too high. http://projects.washingtonpost.com/congress/members/o000167/votes/missed/

I agree the important issues are not being addressed such as voting records and past grievances like The Keating Five Scandal. I found a transcript for an interview with Governor Palin on CNBC and it scared me the things she had to say. I am from California, the coast of Northern California to be exact and I never want anyone to drill for oil off our coastline up here. Sorry if people without an ocean bordering their state want drilling so they can fantasize about lower gas prices, but its not going to happen here, the people here don't want it and they will fight it, you already have So. California, leave us and our oceans alone. here is the interview if anyone is interested in what she had to say. http://www.cnbc.com/id/25394468/

That why we need other parties involve with our poltical process the 2 party system has seen its better days, you are right it has become a "sideshow" nothing of sustance all superficial...The great old 2 party system has become a joke any thinking person would be sick of the "bull" that we're getting fed by these Deadbeat Bums of Washington".It's time that We the People demand that our political leaders talk up to us with facts and solutions instead of them talking down to us with nonsense to sidestep the issues at hand.

You'd think the election was happening in the UK the amount of media time it has had. More, I think, than our general election. While I am interested in who gets elected, I just can't wait for November to come and go.
