Am I Crazy, Or Are Mosquitos Getting Smarter?

This morning I woke up and started my day with with my usual half a gallon of Hulk-Strenth iced- coffee that I inhaled while I shaved.. As I was looking in the mirror, I noticed that I had a big welt right on my temple, an area where I hate to get a bugbite, because it's so sensitive, and it itches like hell, and I hate to have to scratch there... Then I noticed another welt right at the back of my elbow, and another at the crook of the same elbow... All of these places are total torture zones and I swear that those little vampires are out to get me, dammit! To avoid scrathing, I have to resort to using an anti-itch ointment and pretend that it works, because they never do, as you all know... I know that it's my imagination at work, but I could swear that mosquitos have learned how to bite Humans in places where we can't easily swat them, get a good meal, while enjoying the entertaining aspects of driving us crazy! I have been cleaning out the home of a recently deceased Client of mine, who detested the use of pest control substances, and it seems that she became friends with bugs of kinds, which meant that they never "bugged" her at all! Now that I'm in the house trying to put the place back in shape, it seems that I have come under precision attack by her "army" and especially her "air force"... The bite that I have just discovered on the bridge of my nose was the very last straw! Tommorow, after my coffee and allergy pill breakfast, those suckers are gonna get it for sure!

The mosquitoes are getting smarter, stronger and more resistant to anti mosquito agents. the best way out is to get inside mosquito net and prevent mosquito from multiplying near your locality.

ha ha ha, that one was really funny. I don't know if it my perception or if it is really true. I stay in a city (chennai, in india) and when mosquito bites me, it is very sharp and i feel it immediately, whereas when i go to my native the kind of mosquito bite is totally different over there, it takes time for us to realize, and by the time we realize, it would have already sucked some blood.

Hi Peaceful. We recently had a spot of very welcome rain and with it a surge of mozzies...fortunately they were quite sluggish and easliy smacked...right before my eyes, so to speak. You do sound to be in a state...I have found that if a dab of tea tree oil on a bite doesn't work then the very best answer to an annoying bite is the actual repellant that failed to do it's job in the first place. It clears up the bite site/sight and the itch quick smart.

Peaceful, I don't really know if the squito's are getting smarter but I do have a theory they certain peoples blood is like a delicacy to the critures. If there is a mosquito within the state I do believe it seeks me out while other person's within a few feet remain uneffected...How is That? About the itch,Try a little mud :)

This AB-Negative cocktail that I have inside of my veins is very rare, and it seems that not only mosquitos and blackflies love that stuff... But whenever I give blood, I become a damn celebrity and I have to run out of the place before they drain me dry!

I was out on a rowboat for a day of fishing and forgot to get off of the water at sundown... I was bitten in places that you might see in an Adult Movie, and almost everywhere else but the bottom of my feet! Never Again!

Hey peaceful! I hear ya! I hate being bitten by mosquitos! I am allergic to their bites. When I get bitten I swell up really badly. My bites swell to 3 times the size of anyone elses! And yes you are right! They do seem to bite in the most annoying places. I got bitten on the top of my back near my shoulder blade which is almost impossible to raise your arm to scratch! They are such clear little suckers! And you're right about nothing stopping the itch. None of those itch medicines ever work. None! I have never found one to work! The allergy medications don't work for me either. So I just pray that I don't get bitten. So far this year I've been fairly lucky, but then again I haven't been sitting outside at night much for fear of getting bitten. The news says that there is a strain of West Nile in Long Island, NY which is 45 minutes from where I live and I'm not taking any chances! I don't want any bites from those little devils!

I could almost that swear that parts of me are being "Pimped Out" by some Mosquito Mafia somewhere! Why on Earth do they love my elbows, temples and nose so much? I have been bitten in other places such as the top of my feet... Talk about Itch City! Yikes!
