What to feed my pug puppy?

I am having trouble deciding on what to feed my puppy when I get her next week. I have already got a bag of Science Diet Dry Puppy . After reading a discussion on the benefits of feeding raw I think I will try a raw diet with chicken wings and maybe a little chicken mince. I don't want Betty-Sue to put on any unhealthy weight but at the same time I don't want to starve her! It sounds like it's going to be hard getting the balance right. Are there any pug owners who can give me some good advice on feeding?

Awwwwwwwwwww a new addition to the family. How is Betty-Sue getting along now? I bet she's fun to have around. If your feeding her chicken, just make sure your not giving her the bones to eat. They can not only be a choking hazzard to her but also bad for her stomach/intestinal tract. I feed mainly dry food to my furbabies with the addition of either raw or cooked veggies/meat when I have leftovers.

That sounds like a good diet. Dry foods are quite complete now, especially if they are a good brand like Purina or Hills. I haven't given her bones yet, instead I was told by a vet at work to give her a carrot to chomp on. Not only is it good for her, it is low fat, it keeps her occupied for ages and it's great for her teeth. I have been feeding her mainly dry, with the odd serving of canned food. She is so much fun to have around! So much personality for such a tiny little pup.

What I do is get one of those sterilized bones that are hollow from the pet store and fill it with peanut butter. Domingo is content for hours licking it out and it's good for them. Carrots, green beans, asparagus, celery..they are all good for dogs. Just a matter of what they like is all. My one dog I had to put down LOVED asparagus and knew whenever I was cooking them. He would lay by his dish with a totally hopeful look on his face and softly whine. Can't resist giving him a few spears then. lol

I have never owned a pug but i fed my puppy Purina puppy chow, and she did well on that..now that she is older i do feed her some of our food but i always keep her dry dog food available if she wants to nibble some..Some puppies you can just keep dry food out all the time but others you have to have just special feeding times..depends on how much they eat..Good luck on your new puppy..

I don't own a pug either but if you are going to go with a raw diet you should also either supplement with vitamins or a very high quality dog food. The dogs need meat and vegetables both in their diet and its hard getting the balance just making it all yourself.
