I find the translators are good to begin with . Often the one's i've found don't get the proper sentence structure and grammar though.

Interesting. I first studied Spanish about last two years. Here are some phrases that I learned in the very first time: 1. Buenos Dias 2. Buenas Tardes 3. Buenas Noches. 4. Muchas Gracias 5. De Nada. I only bought some book from the bookstore and then I tried to auto-deducted myself. Spanish and Indonesian have similar alphabetical order and pronunciation. So It helped me a lot. I didn't meet any difficulty about speaking a word. Then, Studying from a Global Link Translator is good. just download the program. It help a lot. http://www.10001downloads.com/s/globalink-power-translator6.4.html You can choose some translator from there. I really recommend you to use several translator to determine the different. I have done it, and that works a lot. It also helps me to remember many words and their inflections. Study well... Hasta Luego Creo que pueda aprendir el espanol. Hablaras Un dia espanol fluidamente.

I heard the best way to learn a language is to be the country where they speak it. I am hoping to go to Costa Rica for a couple of weeks to take classes and stay with a family there

Its one of the places I want to go on my big South American Trip... which I won't be able to afford for years.. Keep me posted!

I learned Spanish by living in a Spanish Speaking country. That is the fastest and easiest way. I also translate and teach English. I wrote an article on how to learn Spanish o eHow, you can visit if you like (free) http://www.ehow.com/how_4581367_learn-spanish-steps.html Thanks, and good luck with your learning
