I am learning to read tarot so everyday (or every week whatever) I am going to pull out a new card until I have meditated and read up on all 78 cards. Today's Card The 5 of Cups According to my handy dandy tarot card book, Fives signify great changes. Cups or hearts stand for emotions. The 5 of cups represents a parting of ways that is emotionally upsetting To me 5 is the half way point to ten, if you ask me if 5 is an even number I will studder, because it "feels" even to me. Cups are represented by hearts so I also feel like they are in relationship to emtions. The 5 of cups shows an ending of things and a need to grieve for them, but you can rest assured that if you take one more step just right there beyond your line of sight is the start of something new and wonderful. You can feel it and you know it even though you are sad now, getting out of bed is a bit exciting. To YOU What do you think or feel in regards to the 5 of cups. I would love to hear it.

I've been reading tarot for over thirty years now, ever since I was in my early teens, and your way of learning them is an excellent approach. You've done a pretty good job of synthesizing the essence of the 5 of cups. The fives represent conflict and upheaval in reference to their suits. Traditionally, the five of cups shows a figure standing over three spilled cups with two cups still upright behind him or her. Usually, when the five of cups comes up in a reading, it is telling you that though you may be grieving a loss, there is still something to be taken from the situation. The person in the situation is still too shaken by loss to recognize the good that remains, but it is there, waiting to be discovered when they turn around and look. Before you move on, take the time to see what you can salvage from the experience. It's almost always valuable. What deck of cards are you using?
