the worst neighbors ever

I have the worst neighbors ever. The children have climbed on our wooden fence and broke it. They have thrown candy at the side of the house and the car, tease my dog, take mail out of our mailbox, park in our driveway or across it so we can't park in our own driveway, let their dogs leave "gifts" on our grass, and throw trash in our yard. Have you ever had a bad neighbor? How did you make things more bearable?

I hope you are doing something about these not-so-neighborly actions. If my dog was into biting, I seriously would not stop her from chasing those kids and scare the sh- out of them. And taking mail from your mailbox? Isn't that illegal? I don't know whose dog it is but once in a while, we get those "gifts" on our grass too. And one time, I was so upset because I found an ice cream wrapper with melting ice cream on our lawn just an hour after I got done with cleaning the front area. We live at the end of the street and a lot of times during trash day, some of our neighbor's trash would "fly" to our direction. They fill their bin way to the top and they just leave it open like that. One time, a neighbor parked their big boat in a no parking zone and by the corner too making it hard for us to see when we make a turn. After a couple weeks that it was still there, I called the proper authorities citing that it's a hazard which it truly is. Soon after, it was gone.

Thanks Erin for the BR. How old are these kids anyway? At first I imagined them to be in 10-12 but now it seems like they are older than that? Their parents need to teach them responsibility. OOOooooOOooH, I don't like these neighbors of yours and I haven't even met them. Thanks again.

OMG! I can not imagine! I definitely would exercise my right to complain to the proper authorities. Hopefully you live in a neighborhood that has a homeowners association you should take pictures of the damages and report them. I am assuming that you have already talked to the parents of the hoodlums. But they are probally a younger version of their parents, otherwise they would not allow them to act in this manner. If you don't have a HOA, then I would start calling the local authorities or police. There is no reason for you to be terrorized by your neighbors.

I have definitely spoken to the parents. Like you said, I think the children are miniatures of their parents. Things calm down for about a week, then they go back to the way they were. Unfortunately I don't live in a house that has a HOA. I have thought about calling the police, but am concerned that nothing would be done, and I would still have them as neighbors.

Well the police would have to respond, for domestic issues. If nothing else maybe they will get sick of the police showing up at their door. Especially when they are on your property that you either own or rent. If its not a public area, then you have every right. You as a homeowner/owner deserve and have the right to a certain amount of "peace".

So you're experiencing the Neighbor from Hell? I have it too... they park their car in front of my main gate so somehow I should ask them to move it before I can move my car out. Making noises in the middle of the night. Let their dog barking all night and day and making me suffer because I cannot sleep at all. And the best thing is they always send me the 'charity envelope' in the name of the church to get some money

I'm sorry to hear that you are also experiencing inconsiderate neighbors. Mine used to have a very large dog that they let outside in the early morning hours. It would literally howl for an hour around 6 in the morning. They also let it out at night. It sometimes howled after 11 pm. They got rid of the dog, so that helped a lot. If I had to choose, I think I would rather have the dog back and have the people gone :)
