Love letters...are they for keeps?

I was in my once-in-a-blue-moon mood the other day and found myself cleaning my drawers...the special one that is always kept locked. In this I keep my precious little keepsakes, pictures and letters...ahhhh the love letters. I found letters from my first boyfriend, then from my second and then some others...sssshhhh! I'm married now to a wonderful man for over 15 years and of course majority of the letters are from him. But do you think it betrays him that I keep the other love letters? How do you feel of past love letters? Are they for keeps or should they just be discarded once you're married? Share with me your thoughts on this whim or sentimentality over love letters...

I also keep love letters and others stuffs that i think special.. even the rose petals.. even the boxes of those chocolates.. haha... even if it smells nasty.. for me, its fine to keep those stuff even if you're already married.. it depends on your husband.. some can understand it.. You have that letter before you meet your husband, right? and you cannot just throw it, it's a part of your life.. Memories in which you can still cherish.. :)

Hi eneria... I thinks it's all right to keep them...but you know your husband best so to keep them under lock and key or otherwise are your options. Thank you for your sharing... Happy mylotting...

Hi friend! So you started this discussion ha and it is so nice so as I promised I am here to give my piece. So...you are still keeping the love letters of your former boyfriends? Ha!ha!ha! I can't really comment on that because my hubby was the first and the last boyfriend that I had so I did not have a chance to receive love letters from former boyfriends. But I did receive love letters from former suitors but I never kept them. I have the habit of tearing love letter of suitors I disliked. (Am i cruel?) But this is the opposite with my first boyfriend who is now my hubby. All his love letter have been safely kept in a box. I really treasure them. My hubby had few other girlfriends before me and there was one who almost became his wife. When we got married, he showed me all the love letters of that woman including her photos. He asked me what he would do with them. I simply told him "Burn them!" And he did right there and then without another word. I was so glad with his gesture, I am a jealous type and I certainly would not want seeing him keeping memories of his past relationships. How about your hubby, is he not jealous or he has not seen those love letters yet? Ha!has!ha!

hi there friend... you truly must have a devoted husband. he really burned his former girlfriends' letters in front of you...wow that must have won you instantly... my husband is the jealous type so those letters were truly a guarded secret. but the day i cleaned out my drawers i finally placed them at their rightful place...burned and thrown away...tucked back deep in the recesses of my memories. through the years we've related to each other our former escapades, laughed about them and maybe even showed a tinge of jealousy with some of them but I showed him that evening the box of his love letters that I kept... he gave me a warm hug. thanks for sharing...see you around...happy mylotting...
