Battery Woes

ARRRRRRRRGH. I'm so frustrated with my digital camera. The rechargeable batteries that came with it will only stay charged for about 10 minutes or 5 picture, which ever comes first. Well the fact is they're 4 years old and have been used a LOT, but. . . I bought alkaline batteries and they work fine unless I leave it sitting overnight. They're dead the next day. I bought some lithium batteries and thought I'd have better luck. I did as long as I was taking pictures every day or so, but the camera has been sitting on the desk for about 3 weeks. I only used it a few times after I put the last set of batteries in and when I started to use it today, they were dead. Even too dead to turn the little red warning light on! Would I have better luck if I took the batteries out of it completely when it wasn't in use? It's a Kodak CX6230.

to me it sounds like something is wrong with the camera maybe, I have used ordinary batteries and lithium in my camera and I always use lithium now because they last so long, in fact the3y seem to last that long i forget I have to put new ones in sometimes...and i take a lot of photos and then I don't use it for awhile and my camera is always ok...

I've wondered about it being a defective camera. It was an incentive gift with my computer, and I've had this trouble with it from the beginning. When I went online to register it for warranty Kodak couldn't find that model in their database!

Yes, Kodak range of cameras do drain up batteries easily. Well, I've come to a solution .... since Kodak can be customized, why not do so? I have a 7.1 MP Kodak Easyshare Z710. Usually I use only 5MP which is good enough for any A4 size pictures. Then, avoid using the zooms too often. Do not use the flash to often too. Another thing, do not use the LCD display view when capturing pictures. You can use the viewfinder instead. This help to save energies for your batteries.

My Kodak camera does the same thing. They are notorious battery hogs. I don't know if taking them out all the time would help. You could try it. God knows I have spent a small fortune in batteries for mine.

I completely quit using my digital ( Kodak EasyShare CD40) after trying several different types of batteries. It has been sitting on the bookcase for months.
