False sense of intimacy

I read an article about relationships that recommended a long period of getting to know the person before becoming intimate with them. This way you could learn whether or not you have the same beliefs and values. The point was that if you become intimate first, you can fall in love with a person who is totally incompatible with you before you have a chance to really determine that there's an incompatibility. And that you'd have a good chance of setting yourself up for a heartbreak. What do you think? Anybody have a similar experience?

I have to say that I completely agree with that article. Not only have I known people who rushed head on to commitments(which ended badly) and people who took their time (who are still happy together after all these years), but I also learned from the most bitter teacher of all who we can call experience. Intimacy is a good thing to have in a relationship, but that doesn't mean its suppose to be the reason why you are together. Though you may love each other rushing into anything isn't actually a good thing specially if you are young.

Probably true in many cases. Of course, some people just get lucky!

Yeah some can be just so lucky. I just hope that not all people think they will be lucky to find love in an instant.

True but sometimes the personality comes out later... Or changes!

nay, not yet. but you ought to be careful. take time before judging and then the amount of error decreases. but it is not error zero. the great saying: to err is human. so, error may be less but not nil... bye and take care..
