if you are a true-blooded Beatles fanatic, you must've already heard of ACROSS THE UNIVERSE. A movie directed by Julie Taymor which is Beatles inspired. It's a musical. For me, it didn't really seem like a musical since i enjoyed and still enjoy the works of the Beatles. The songs that they used all came from the albums of the fabulous four. Plus the songs in the soundtrack made sense to the script. Some of the names of the characters of the movie were taken from the Beatles songs, like, Jude (Hey, Jude), Lucy (Lucy in the Sky with Diamonds), Max (Maxwell's Silver Hammer) and Prudence (Dear Prudence) The soundtrack is awesome. Watched it last night, it's still ringing in my head. There are some songs which you won't notice as Beatles-songs because they were done in different arrangements. Their version of Let it Be is very moving. My favorite is the remake of Hey Jude. The movie is a representation of the 60's decade, the time when the Beatles made it big. The film makers made sure that it becomes a picture of that Beatles era...violent protest at Columbia University, Janis Joplin, Jimi Hendrix, Beatles performing on a rooftop, them going to India....just to name a few. A lot of small details say about them. The script, the props, the venue. If you have the keen eye for Beatles, you'd be able to identify them.=) I liked the part when the Max met up with Jude after a while. For me it shows the friendship of Lennon and McCartney. Also, as a bonus, Bono of U2 appeared in the movie singing "I am the Walrus". As a fan, i was very satisfied watching it. And i'd watch it again. I hope there are some interested souls here who heard about this movie, or better yet, seen the movie.

In all honesty, I actually can't stand the Beatles..They have MAYBE 2 or 3 songs that I truly enjoy but the majority of it I can do with out, thanks to my older brother and my mother who listened to them often when I was a kid...too often..WAY too often LOL
