I like dogs but after that my dog passed away last summer I vowed not to have more dogs in my house. It was a heartbreaking episode in my life. He had been my company for 13 years. Losing my dog was like losing a child for me. My wife tells me to give in and bring a puppy for our child. He is an only child and can keep him company. What do you suggest? Should I give in or not?

Yes, Grief is a natural part of life. Think about how much love you had for the dog. how much you cared for that dog. How it was your buddy... Don't you think your child should have the opportunity to share that same experience. The love a pet is an awesome thing. I think everyone should have the opportunity to experience and live it.

i lost my dog 3 years ago. i had her for 10 years. it was awful, i had to take of work cause i couldnt stop crying. i still miss her. now i think about getting another dog. there are lots of dogs in shelters that need a good home. i think you should go for it. your child would be happy, you would be happy and the dog would love you forever for saving him or her.
