My son is 2 years old he'll be 3 in Feb. Well My son he'll eat one day out of the week really good (Thursday usually) lol And the rest of the week he jsut picks at things for some reason. I took him to the doctor and they said it was normal but i dont see how its noraml for a child to eat one day out of the week and the rest of the week he picks at stuff and doesnt really eat anything. Anyone Else have that problem besides me?

Are there other children in the house? I thought my son (who will be 2 on Halloween) wasn't eating very well until I found out that every time any of the other kids had any type of food, they were giving him bites. There are 4 other kids besides him and if, at his young age, he's stealing 3 bites off each person at each meal, he's really getting a full amount for his size. We have a large family so we just kind of eat wherever, so we don't always see what everyone's doing at all times. There are some days, now that the others are in school, where he will only eat a little at lunchtime and little or nothing at dinnertime, but he could possibly get that from me. I make him something at each meal time, whether it's a peanut butter sandwich, soup, cereal, or whatever, but I personally do not eat 3 meals a day. I may eat something quick at lunchtime, but I am a total pig at dinner. (Not good, I know). He may be seeing that I'm not eating and he's picking it up from me. Through the years with all the kids, I have learned from doctors that it's no big deal and that when they're hungry, they will eat. My daughter went through a stage where all she would eat was hot dogs with ranch dressing. I know hot dogs are definitely not the healthiest thing to eat, but teh doctor said that if that's what she'll eat, give it to her. Good luck!

lol well good luck! I really do think they get a lot of their habits from watching us. If we're not eating much, they might not, but then they just get to the point one day where, like you said, they're gonna fill up for the week.

Well I have a 2 year old son who will be 3 in april. He also goes through this each except he will have 2 good days of eating all three meals. For the rest of the days I will be lucky if I can get him to eat at least lunch. He also for some reason thinks he needs to eat cookies or chocolate sometimes instead of healthy. We hardly ever have junk food in the house. If we have anything like that it is only like once or twice a month. I will say though if I was to make hotdogs or chicken everyday he then would most likely eat three meals a day then.

my daughter just turned 2 and has started doing this as well. My 6 yr old did it when he was about 2 or 3 as well. My son biggest problem was that he was drinking too much milk and it was making him full so he wouldn't eat his food. Could that be why your son won't eat? My step sister when she was little would only eat every 3 days and the other days it was just picking at stuff and drinking alot. All kids are differnt but they usually all go through it. If your doctor has said not to worry then you shouldn't. I know how it can worry a person because you wonder if they are getting enough vitamins and other nutrients but if their bodies needed something it would make him eat. All you can do is offer him food and if he chooses not to eat then try again at the next snack or meal time. Good Luck!
