Are you losing your memory?

I'm still young, yet I find it hard remembering where I last left that set of keys, or forget where I placed a stack of papers - even if I had just placed it somewhere a few minutes prior. I forget details and instructions and are only reminded of them by someone else. I'm quite aggravated by this and I wish I weren't so absent-minded. Are you the same way? Do you find it hard remembering what you had for breakfast? Are you losing your memory?

What is your stress level? Do you feel this may have something to do with your memory problems? What about anxiety? How many things crowd you life? How many people and activities demand attention? I am now middle-aged and have to use more tricks for memory. You are never too young to incorporate lists, calendars, etc. Also, game playing is not just a waste of time but can enhance your memory, especially those hidden-object and matching games. I still cannot remember names, but I blame it on the fact that I sing in front of large crowds and then someone confronts me in the grocery store for an entire discussion. They seem to know me but I don't know them. So, I rationalize that this person was probably in a church congregation where I sang. They have only one of me to remember; how can I remember 300+ names in one setting? Brush your teeth with your nondominant hand; change things up. Research memory tips. Don't become discouraged. I doubt there is anything organic wrong with your brain.

I think my stress level is relatively low... Some people tell me I never seem anxious, so I don't think it is that. I use calendars and such for important things I need to remember, but the things I don't jot down sometimes get lost. I was introduced to the gallery method to try and remember things by mentally placing them in a room but it didn't seem to work for me (or I only tried it once). Thanks for the tips though. Maybe I'm so immersed in routine my mind switches off and I don't remember anything anymore.

Well then, this thread can help you. Some of the other users have already posted suggestions like using lists to help you remember stuff, so you can save your job using those.

Yes, I do and it is embarrassing too at times, I put things away in the house and I forget where I put it, I say I am hiding things from myself. I forget people names. I go to the store and forget what I am going for. I got where now I write a list before I go to the store. And when I am at home if I see I need something I write it down.

Yes, it is embarrassing isn't it? Even if I'm blatantly told to bring something along with me, I might forget it the next moment. I forget things which I just placed down and have to hunt for awhile to find it again.

Well, I never really forget what I had for breakfast because I normally have Lucky Charms every single day! But I find it hard to pay attention when someone is talking, especially when they tell me their name. Plus, so many people have the same first names so it is hard to keep track of who is who. I cna't remember directions either so if I ask one person where something is I have to ask someone else along the way.

Haha, I guess that won't be hard to forget now, wouldn't it? But if people asked me what I had for breakfast that day, I'd only remember 1 out of 3 times. I can usually put a name to a face, unless its a particularly hard or foreign name.
