Any good lucid dreaming techniques?

Hi all I was wondering if any of you have any good lucid dreaming methods other than keeping a journal and remembering your dreams? I read about some lucid devices to aid you but heard some negative stuff about them, like one called NovaDreamer I believe.
Thoughts anyone?
