The damage that's been done to Texas and so many other places... it's horrific. I get shivers even though I'm only looking at pictures. I can't believe so many people didn't evacuate, especially when they had kids whose lives were also depending on their parent's decisions... opinions?

It is indeed a devastating disaster that caused a lot of damage in many areas. Unfortunetly, many did not take hurricane Ike seriously because of what had happened with Gustav. Galveston is ruined and many people stayed even after the mandatory evacuation as well as other people in coastal areas. Houston was impacted with the power situation, fences, trees, and fire but it does not compare to Galveston. I live in Fort Bend and we really got a lot of wind damage. They are still looking for more people hoping that the tow does not raise high.

The storms are getting stronger but the government does seemed ready for them I suspect that building codes need to be stronger so that building s are more resistant to winds. Furthermore, buildings need to be raised and more weather resistant
