Profession worth it?

Ok, so what profession did you pick and was it worth it? One of my toons does enchanting and engineering. I knew they were both going to be the biggest pains to craft, but geeze. They both cost me so much and earn so very little. Now I can only get a few more engineering schematics by farming all day or doing the 70 instances. I don't do raids so now what? There are very few items you can even sell. Oh well, guess I keep farming. As for enchanting, no one wants to pay for an enchant other than a few gold for a tip. Big earner there, huh? Guess I'll depend on my smither and lowbies that need stuff. Another year before I get that epic flying mount.

I went with herbalism and tailoring. With herbalism, I've made a lot of money. There's always a demand for herbs. The only difference I've seen lately is that mana thistle has gone down. Before you could sell it for maybe 30g or more. Now it's been under 20g. As for tailoring, I don't make as much off of that. I've been able to sell a few things here and there. And it has come in handy when someone has needed something, especially bags. I like making my own bags and not have to pay for them, so at least I'm saving money. LOL

Thank you for the response. Its funny, all my alts were made originally just so they could make stuff for my main. My main does smithing and mining. I think the only profession I don't have at least a real lowbie doing is tailoring, yet I complain about not having bags and not wanting to pay for them, figures, lol.

I'm not quite capped on tailoring yet. I'm close though, but last night was the first time I noticed how much some of the things can sell for in the AH. People were selling primal mooncloth bags for over 400g. And just a single spellcloth was nearly 60g. It's crazy but if people are going to buy it, I'm not complaining! LOL...I'll continue making it.

Tell me about it! There's been several times that I wanted a bag, but just couldn't convince myself to spend that much.

I had herbology and alchemist, and I honestly think they were both worth it. She made her own potions for health, mana, and other random things, and people actually bought some of the higher up potions. I highly enjoyed those two professions.

There are always herbs around to pick too. I do enjoy that when I play my little guy that has it.

Of my three tons that i hit 70 on i would have to say that the most profitablt one would be herb and alch. My other two toons were enchanting/tailoring and mining/engeering. Enchanting and engeering are both money suckers. If you to make money i think the best thing to go is skinning and either mining or herb

Thank you for your input. I've been considering trying jewelcrafting on my littlest toon. I don't play him much so don't think I'd really know how well that one will make money. At least I could sell ore with mining on him.

I picked jc and mining on my mian , and for my alt I picked herb and alc. I make a bit off of both of them. jc isn't that hard to lvl . so many patterns and they are in big demand. you will always have someone needing herbs. I am on Azjoel Nurueb however you spell it ha! I have been playing for about three years now well since it came out . My alt basically feeds my main for her raid potions and things because it would get way to expensive to try to buy all of it in the AH . What I did to earn gold at lvl 60 was I farmed lower lvl instances and sold the twink blues and the cloth . Also all that lowbie green stuff sells for a bundle too. Another way is I would find something really cheap in the ah that would usually sell for a bit more , then I would resell it a few days later at a higher price . I made a ton of gold off that. I hope this helps!

Thanks for the comment. I also would go through the low instance, mainly SM, but I just couldn't seem to get blue stuff to drop much any more. Silk quit selling too. I haven't done it for a while and I am seeing more lowbies now, so maybe its time to try it again. I'm also on a lower pop server, so that doesn't help either.
