I like star trek and my favorite characters are data and Deanna troy, and anyway do you think are technology will ever be that advanced i think anything's possible for instance i think the holodeck might be possible its kind of like virtual reality just imagine if they some how find a way to expand that technology, but i dont think that food device they had on the ship will ever be possible but i think maybe those fasors might be possible, and lastly but not least the ship, do you think that's possible we already have rocket ships that go to the moon or so they tell us there going to the moon lol, so i think its possible to someday have a ship like the enterprise, ok i know what you might be thinking and i know that most all the things we see on tv will never happen and real life, but why not have fun imagining the possibility.

possibly as science fiction often inspires realworld scientists

Back in the day of the TV series there was a concern with the sickbay and there was a top secret project going on in the armed services. It seems as if the top secret project that the government was working on was too close to the bed in the sickbay. The government wanted to know how Roddenberry had gotten the plans for the medical panel. Roddenberry, of course, had no idea what the government was talking about. When the series was being put together the script writer's were asked to think about things like this and be as creative as they could possible be. The sickbay was nothing more then suppositions and pure creativity on their part. They were so creative that a lot of the things that were on that show are things that we are using today...look at the cell phone! DCMerkle

let us hope so! wouldnt that be amazing! course we wont be alive to witness it, but still! and anything is possible..it wasnt all that long ago that a box with moving pictures and voices (tv) was a thing of imagination you know. our technology is growing in leaps and bounds...ANYTHING is possible in the year 3000..or even sooner for that matter!

i think our future may have the same technology as Star Trek but I think they'll be used for other purposes. Unless we get engulfed in a man-made black hole in which case we wouldn't even have such technology!:] But I do agree that most of the things on TV won't ever be exactly true.

Actually, the writers for Star Trek got a lot of their information from real scientists. Everything on the show is meant to be something that is theoretically possible to create. The exception is the transporter. They came up with that one because they couldn't afford to keep shooting a shuttle going to and from different destinations. And yes, I am a huge dork for knowing all this, but I watched the special on Star Trek that the History Channel made!
