How would you show your concern towards a cancer patient?

A few weeks ago my father gave me the bad news that my 55 year old aunt has been diagnosed with a cancer. She is currently undergoing chemotherapy. As a family we do care about each other but we are not the type of calling each other or visit each other houses often. But we are always there for each other in times of need. I found it difficult to pick up the phone and give them a call them to let them know that I heard the news. I was speechless and ended up by not calling since I found it really difficult what to say. Last week I was shopping at a supermarket when I met my aunt and uncle coming out from a lift. We stayed talking for half an hour, and my aunt who seemed in good spirit tried to explain what she is going through. If you heard that a close relative is suffering from an illness would you call? What would you say? How would you show your concern?

i think a cancer patient undergoes a lot of stress,if you pay her a visit,it will be helpful.she may be able to unburden herself to you and talking does relieve a lot of stress.

Calling the person always works the best. It shows the person you really care about them and that you are worried about them. Don't think about what you want to tell the person, when you are talking to the person on the phone I am sure you will not think much and the words will automatically come out of your mouth. Tell your feelings and show your aunt that she is close to your heart.
