I think there's no doubt that the smartest character in Harry Potter is Dumbledore. I knew everything about everything. He was always right. Yeah, Hermione was smart but not as smart as Dumbledore. He was a real genius in everything ;)

My 10 year old son agrees with you. Because she sees everything from all sides where as Ron and Harry only sometimes see things from one side. My 10 year old son said that

Ofcourse, Professor Dumbledore. He's a great professor and also a fighter. He used his mind and plan things to help Harry Potter overcome the evil works of Voldemort.

I think Dumbledore is the smartest person, He knows almost everything. And all the guesses that he makes are almost perfect.

It depends on what you mean. Hermione would be my pick in terms of book smarts. She's like a walking encyclopedia, not to mention she's pretty much good at anything. I would say Dumbledore is the smartest in that "I know everything" type of way. It's almost like he's psychic sometimes. He also has everyone beat in terms of power, but then again, he's pretty old. One last thing. If we're talking smart in a "street smart", deceptive type way, I'd have to go with Snape. He's so good, he even had me confused about whose side he was really on until the last book.

I'd have to say Dumbledore's the smartest. I've read and reread all the books time and time again, and every time I pick up on something I didn't before. I think Dumbledore's much smarter than he ever lets on. Hermione's certainly the smartest in terms of reading and retaining information, but Dumbledore has his own brand of devious, manipulative cunning.
