McCain's Newfound Support for Regulation - How Can He Be Trusted?

McCain, after decades of being against regulations, has now decided we need them. How perceptive of him. "They haven't been doing their job right," McCain said yesterday, "or else we wouldn't have these massive problems on Wall Street, and that's a fact." "They" haven't been doing their job? How about McCain hasn't been doing his job? If not for his and his party's insistence on de-regulating the banking industry, the US wouldn't be in this economic crisis now. The thing I found so laughable, is that McCain wants to "propose a commission to examine the crisis." lol To my ears, that means that John McCain has no freaking idea how to fix our problems. But yes, let's do form a commission to talk about it for the next several years. That will help. McCain has a new ad in which he says, "I won't tolerate a system that puts you and your family at risk. Your savings, your jobs . . . I'll keep them safe." I don't know about anybody else, but this statement just rings hollow for me. How anyone can think that this man has any idea of how to "change" our country is beyond me. What do you think?

Amen. McCains support of the federal financial modernization act was something he won't be able to brush aside in the comming weeks. Biden can safely say he voted against it, Obama wasn't even a state senator when it was passed (I don't think), Palin was't even a politician then so they can both claim they nebver supported it, but it would only be word against word with both of them. Lets not forget though that this was the result of more than one congress, more than one president and more than one party. Your going to see a lot of people taking a biiiiig step away from that and pointing fingers in to the circle, but it was everyone from, grahm and McCain, to the clinton signature on the bill.

Wow! X, we agree! One thing I find terrifying, is that Phil Gramm has been bandied about as Treasury Secretary if McCain wins the election. How's that for appointing the fox to guard the hen house?

We probably agrea on more than you think. But I also realize that many times, there is far more than one person to blame in the government for a lot of things. For example, do you know who the top 4 donattion recipients from fannie mae were? Obama, Dodd, Kerry, Cinton.

And I think McCain would do well to consider Romney to that post or something similar, say what you will about his politics, but his economic knowlage would be inaluable. Maybe we don't need a business man to run the country, but it's nice to have a few in the cabinate who know what their doing.
