How gullible are we?

I've been somewhat following this presidential race between these two candidates. They are saying alot of things to us, the public, hoping that we like what they say. However, I'm at the point where I just don't believe anything they are saying, or promising, any more. I'm so disappointed in these candidates, as they are wasting all their energies on trying find things wrong with each other, instead of staying focused and being sincere in their efforts to tell the truth about what they want to be able to do as President, and then actually follow through. There are so many lies being told, and the thing that worries me...even though us, the public, knows that these things they are saying are lies, we still will vote for the person who, I guess, tells the best lies in the most charming or charismatic fashion...I don't know...are we that gullible? I'm not sure if I want either one of these people to be our President. So what do you feel about this? How do you think we can make an educated and intelligent decision when it's time to vote, when all our information is based on exaggerations and lies?
