What do you think about the death penalty?

Here in the Philippines, our president signed a law that abolished the death penalty. Personally, I am against the death penalty. I don't believe a life should be taken no matter what the circumstance. What do you think about having a death penalty? Should there be one? If yes, what crimes would be punishable by death? If no, why not?
