Do you use the bathroom with the door open or closed?

The reason I am asking is because my girlfriend took down my bathroom door completely! She says it's because she got locked inside once, but it's just so strange to me not having a door to close at all so I just use hers now. I guess I never really thought people ever did that until I moved in with her. She almost NEVER closes ANY door in the house, while I like everything shut & locked. I think it may be because I am VERY self-conscious(sp?) and would just die if anyone ever walked in on me doing something so private as using the bathroom. I just can't do it.
So here is a second question for you:
Would you use a bathroom if it didn't have a door?

I don't know why they sawed the bottom off, but we couldn't lock our cats up in there so what was the point? We were trying to move in and needed a place to put the cats so we could get our stuff in - but the BATHROOM didn't work thanks to those morons!

lol that kinda weird... My friends dogs clawed through the bottom of her bedroom door once, but i never heard of anyone sawing one for the cats... hehe

When I am at home it is only my wife and I so the door pretty much always stays open. My wife shuts it when she showers but I don't shut it when I shower myself either! The only time I would close it is if we had guests over which is practically never so our bathroom has a door that gets no action it seems!

When I am alone in the house, it don't matter to me whether the bathroom door is opened or closed. If there are people visiting at my house or I am visiting with family and friends I will respectfully close the door, so there are no encounters with embarrassing moments.
It would have to depend on how bad I had to go to the bathroom if there was no door to a public restroom or at a friends house. If I can hold it until I can find a bathroom with a door, then I would just hold it until such time I could use the bathroom in privacy.

same here. The more you do something you are not accustomed to, the easier it gets to do and the less you will think about it. Living with my GF has taught me that. I am okay with leaving a door open, and she is okay with a door being closed... It's actually pretty interesting if you think about it, how opposite we are, but we are comfortable together... at least NOW anyway....

I always use the bathroom with the door closed. Since I have 3 other people living with me, you never know who is going to walk by the door. No one ever wants to see you doing your business or hearing it.

Well, since there're only me and hubby in the house, if I need to use the bathroom, I don't close or lock the door. But if I use the toilet or bathroom in other people's house, then I'll lock the door. If there's no door in my own bathroom and nobody else lives there, then I will use it. But if it's somebody else's bathroom, then no thank you he he he...

I always leave the bathroom door open, even when I was living at home with my parents and brother. I got used to it because someone was always trying to get something done in the bathroom while I had to go potty. It's something I got used to doing, I even have my husband used to it too. I close it when we have guest over, but other than that, I don't bother with the door because I will have a cat or a husband push it open anyway to see what I am doing!

To me a bathroom door isnt much. While I am home and it's just my husband and children I dont always shut the door. When I have company I always shut and lock it. When I was younger I never shut the bathroom door unless we had company. It's not that big of a privacy thing for me. Everybody does it and it's no big deal.

I do always use my bathroom with the door close. I dont want even though im alone and then i will had visitors that will see me. Its okay maybe to let the door open if the bathroom is inside the room you own if not then for me its better to lock it up. The bad smell might go all over the house lol

I generally do not close the bathroom door. I leave it shut but do not latch it. If there is no one at home I leave it wide open so that I can listen to the TV. Why does one need to latch the bathroom deoor? Unless of course there are a lot of people using the same bathroom.

My bathroom door is always closed when Iam inside. I don't want to show
my openness to others. Your friend's habit is really strange.There is some sort of pleasure to bath in a closed door bathroom. Some times I take bath so openly that asif I am in another world. No one can or allowed to enter my bathroom. When Iam in the the bathroon , it is only mine. I can't share my joy with others.Oh so cool!

I have to say I agree with you. I like to close the bathroom door when I am doing my business!
Now I have a 2 year old daughter that always has to be where I am so often I don't get to shut the door or even if I do she is in the bathroom with me. Its some thing we are working on. But its hard to do when I want it shut but when she is going to the bathroom I make her keep it open (because I need to know what she is doing actually going or just getting into something)

If i were anywhere but home I wouldn't use the bathroom with out the door on it. I would not feel comfortable knowing that someone could see me doing that lol. Now at home I may as well not have a door on the bathroom because as soon as I go to the bathroom it is a potty party. my 1 year old follows me in and then his 3 year old sister follows him. Your poor girlfriend is probably claustraphobic(sp?) from being locked in a bathroom before.

Since it's just Hubby and I we tend to leave it open. If we have company over then we close and lock it. I wouldn't use a bathroom without a door outside of my own home. It sounds like your g/f might have claustophobic issues.

I can't use the bathroom with the door open either. Maybe because I am used to taking a shower bath with the toilet door shut.

hehe, when you sit on the toilet is the door close enough for you to close it without having to get up?? That is one of the main reasons why I wouldnt do it, because incase I were ever in the middle of something and someone came walking by, the door would be too far for me to close without having to get up first....

Um well i'm a guy so i can do what i need to do wherever i want to. But when doin #2 yea i'd totally need a door. It'd just be weird ya know. I mean guys can have roomates and do what they want to but when it comes to the ole #2 you always gotta have a door.
