Do you think this would be possible?

I was watching a tv show on Fox called Fringe the other night and they brought up a rather interesting theory I would like to share with everyone. One character (the mad doctor, heh heh) brought up an obscure work by Jules Verne, so obscure I can't remember the name of it right now. In this book, they theorize that at the moment of death, the last image seen is implanted on the retina of the eye. And that with the proper tools, you could translate that image from the eyes to a monitor. That got me to thinking (yes, we are all in trouble now), that would be so cool if forensic science could develop this type of equipment. Think about the possiblities. It certainly could not prevent pre-meditated murder because the murderer would only have to put a mask on. It would solve a lot of spur of the moment crimes though. i.e., crimes of passion. And would there be a need for a trial when you had such hard evidence against someone? It would save us, the taxpayer, a lot of money if we could just send the criminal straight to prison. Or it could possibly shorten the trial period. You know go in, show the video of the crime, yep he did it. Bang the gavel, you're done. Do you think it's possible they could someday develop this kind of forensic technology? I do. I believe anything is possible and I think this kind of technology would be a great asset to law enforcement.
