Better service on airlines?

I saw an article on Yahoo! today saying that while airfare increases, service seems to be going down the tuba...Anyone have any horror travel stories? Here's a personal one: On the way to a girl's weekend in Las Vegas, I was leaving on a Friday night and returning Sunday night (essentially I only had 48 hours in Vegas). I got to the airport 3 hours ahead of my 9:30 pm flight. Due to bad weather, all the flights for Southwest were backed up, though miraculously, United's were all leaving on time! As time went by, my flight got pushed further and further..10 pm, 10:30 pm, 11pm and then CANCELLED. I was transferred to another flight which was supposed to have left at 6:30pm. WE got on the plane at 9 pm, then 30 minutes later, asked to de-plane. NO explanations. Finally we were re-boarded at midnight and got to Vegas at 2 am. Vegas airport was a MESS. I could not find my luggage and so I went to my hotel at 4 am.

I'm so lucky I haven't had any issues like that! The good thing about looking like a twelve-year-old is people treat me like a child traveling alone. So the staff coddles me, security coddles me, I'm shocked I haven't been offered the wings pin yet. LOL!!! So I have no horror stories. The only issue with my most recent flight on Frontier was forgetting to bring a coat and FREEZING on the plane - and there are no more blankets offered. Woe unto me. Other than that... planes were exactly (EXACTLY like to the minute) on time, staff was pleasant and fun to interact with, and great! Definitely made me a Frontier fan.

I booked a flight to Tunisia but the airline went out of business so I got another flight with a different airline. It was a bumpy flight and I spilled coffee all over myself. I got serve ear pain when the plane began to descend and land in Tunis. Then the second time it landed I vomited. The cabin crew were not at all polite or nice. That has been my worst flight so far in my life time. I had a four hour delay waiting to fly to St Lucia. That was because Customs and Excise were searching the plane and I don't think that the delay was the airline's fault. My mum and I caught a ferry to Athens and when we arrived at the airport it was packed with people. All flights were delayed and we had a wait almost all night to fly home. I arrived at the airport in Israel and couldn't get near the check in desk. Everyone waited in line for a personal interview. I was nervous and didn't answer my questions very well. So I was taken to a room where all my luggage was searched in detail. They did find out that I am just an innocent traveler and I only just made my flight home. I am sorry to hear about your nightmare delays and terrible service when you flew to Las Vegas. When you only have a weekend time is precious and heavy delays are terrible. Good luck with future trips.
