A relationship is simply YOUR life being shared by another, and THEIR life with you. You may have different interests, but yet many things in common. Talk! Talk about the news, the weather, the election... whatever comes to mind, talk. The more you talk about the trivial things, the more comfortable you become with communication as a whole. Then you have fewer problems talking your way through problems you may encounter. All relationships have problems, the ones that succeed are the ones where people talk (not argue). LEARN TO TALK. If you are talking, you are sharing your inner most self - your thoughts. What can be more personal? To quote a famous fictional character - "Live long and prosper" (6 years and happily counting)

Poet, Good advice! It seems to me that the world has become so hectic that few people share the simple things like real conversations. Often I find myself caught up in talking about PC things and actually thinking "this is just a machine"! Couples need to spend more time really getting to know how each other feels. Toodles! Keep writing, you are good at it!

I think with almost two years that we are together,we learned new things then it's get routinary. Like reading together sharing what we learned. Talking the communication should not stop, even the romance. Why cause their are couple who stays together in one roof still can't talk or one closed their minds so it becomes a conflict and the relatioship becomes complicated. Also helping both of you to grow. Being open with what they feel and think. Accepting the faults and the mistakes.Have a nice day!

I agree with you. I think the best is to have some personal hobbies and interests. Sometimes it is not the relation that is predictable it is the monotonous life, work and lack of time that is the trouble. Friends, hobbies and having your own interests will help to give a meaning to life and relationship.

I would like to tell you good things but somehow my relationships also standing in the edge. But I've heard people said that it is not easy to keep the relationship alive especially after some years being together. You should refresh the relationship and make things new. Going to a new place, doing new activities, come out from the routine. That should make it

Do some surprise things to your spouse or significant other. If you haven't dated for how many months, then this will be a good thing to do one of these days. Just the two of you doing something special outside your home. Be creative. Add spice in your life. You know what can tickle your partner. Explore the possibilities.
