Hello, I truly think that our pets understand what we are saying when we are speaking with someone else or to them. My dog, Sonny, is amazing to me. Everything I say to him, he understands. His barks and actions are his respondses and there are times when I can't fool him. especially when I try to leave him at home and have to go out. I sneak out and he's already outside the back door waiting for me. I try to get him to go out one door so I can close it before he changes his mind, but he won't go out because he knows I'm trying to trick him. I speak to him and give instructions and he is right all the time. Have anyone of you ever experience that with your animals?

Yes. ANimals are naturally intelligent. They get to know their masters behavior and style. Our dogs know how to open doors and hard to be tricked too. It's cute, but somtimes they become a bit hardheaded.

Hi rixi_nicola, Yes they are. Sometimes they know us better then we know ourselves. They are very tricky when they want things their way. But when you need them or come home they welcome you with joy and kisses. Thank you for your response.

Hi srikool, You are right. It doesn't matter what language you speak. Even some kind of hand language. It is whatever the animal is used to hearing or seeing. They are amazing. Thank you

You are absolutely right cyclegmom. I've noticed the same thing in my dog. After they have lived with you a while they seem to sense what you are going to do and what you want from them. It's easy to become attached to an animal that gives you so much love and companionship.

Yes, I think they are better at understanding us than we are at understanding them. We had a daschund who would "talk" to us when we came home at night. She would go up several steps up the staircase by the front door so she would be at eye level with us and bark, but not a mad bark, but more like conversational tone. I am sure she was telling us about her day and what the other two dogs did. When we acknowledeged her, she would come back down. She was so very smart, she understood everything we ever said to her, and talked back even when she did not want to do it... but would because we told her to do it.

Hi Barbietre, Thanks for your response. You are so right. They know how to get needs met from us. And when to get our attention. I've been trying to teach my Sonny to (SAY) MAMA, (lol). I say the word in a low tone of voice that matches his tone when he tries to speak like, and keep it up with a treat in my hand. I have to say my husband and I have heard him try to say it a few times. I believe if they can make any sound, they do have vocal cords, if they didn't they wouldn't be able to bark. My cat used to say mama. Try it.

pimagro24, Thank you for your response. I'm sorry it's taking me so long in responding. I'm only on mylot when I am able to stay home long enough to rest and not have to go out again. My dog Sonny gets things in his mouth and makes sure that I see it. Then he makes sure that I want it then I have to bribe him with some food so that he would give it to me. He is very smart because he puts it down on the other side of the room and comes to me for his food then runs and gets what he had in his mouth before I can get to it. He is my love(beside my husband) and my joy.(lol) We can talk again. Thank you again.

though I'm not used to feed pets, I do understand them and apparently they also understand us better than we do. They say pet is a good best friends, yes its really true even I'm not used to it.. they are one who who will understand us if we have a problem,, talk to them verbally and they will do certain actions according to what you've really feel.we have to take care so much... they meant to be treasure...

Hi rednoah1328, You are so right. They have instinct that only God could give them. All animals are so beautiful and loving to me. I can't understand how anyone can abuse them in any way. Thank you for your response.
