Once fever hits, it is very difficult to feed kids. My son had fever for about 8 days now. He was on many medications and is literally not eating any solids for past 4-5 days. Now I have stopped medications and he is still not eating. So, What do you feed the kids if they have fever?

If my kid is running a fever without cough and not eating I will give him ice-cream.(told by my kids pedia).Because ice cream contained milk but of course not too much. or I will feed him very watery kind of porriage.

My son had cough with fever. I really do not mind giving ice cream if he had just cold. Many would disagree but that would not make much difference in my opinion for healthy children.

My grandmother always did the chicken noodle soup thing. I have followed her trend and do this myself. Broth is another good thing. I have taking alot of nursing courses and can tell you to make sure that he continues the fluids so as not to get dehydrated and do not force too much on the eating. he will get hungry. I hope he feels better soon!

Soups are good. But he dislikes it when he is sick. He has recovered from fever and is still on his liquid diet. I guess the antibiotic and fever together damaged the taste buds.

I hate it when kids are sick! Poor thing..he just doesn't want to eat. I would focus more on getting him to drink lots of liquids so he doesn't dehydrate. As for the foods, I usually try to get my kids to eat toast. That is something that they would rather have than soups and it helps settle stomaches.

He may not dehydrate but he may lack nutrients if he continues not eating. This worries me more. By this I mean, not taking begetables or meat or soup made of it.

our pediatritian always adviced at to give soft diet when our son has fever. so we feed him oats or congee. more on fruits too. but in case he has no appetite we just give him milk. we too adults dont have appetite when we have fever so i think it is natural. feed him food that he likes to eat. favorite food. feed him slowly and soon his appetite will be back.

How old is your son? If he is too small, 8 days of fever is a big time. You must take him to a hospital. Normally, the kid with fever should be given anything they like. The most important thing is for him to eat anything to keep the strength. Any liqued doesn't matter as long as he eats. Take Care with your kid!
