Did you follow the footsteps of your parents?

Before going to college, my plan is to take up a business course but it all changed. Since I didn't like to dissapoint my parents instead of taking up just a business course, I decided to finish a course related to business but the major is IT so computers are there (which is part of my interests). Some of us are trying to follow the footsteps of our parents. As much as possible, we don't want to dissapoint them. Do you think it is just right to follow what they want for you? or just do what you really like doing in order to succeed. Did you really follow the footsteps of your parents?
