Have you ever try do deep fry ice cream?

Here in the UK in quite a few Chinese restaurants, you can get deep fried ice cream, ice cream coated in batter and deep fried. Even since my mum got a deep fat fryer I've been thinking about trying to make it at home, but she said no. Now I've moved out and thinking of getting a deep fat fryer, and finally getting round to it. I just want to know if anyone has tried it and come across any problems, or tips and tricks when making it.

I've never tried it and wouldn't even know how to go about it, but fried ice cream is a pretty popular dessert in Mexican restaurants. I believe they use cinnamon on it. I've only had it maybe 2-3 times and it's been years since I've had it, but I do remember that it was good.

I don't think that its a Chinese dish. I think it a Mexican dessert. But yes I have tried it before. I haven't yet made it at home but I will one day hopefully.
