Do animals have a spirit or a soul?

In one of the discussion i responded, i get confused about a respond to me. So Im calling my lotters to share your minds if really animals have a soul?

One of the hard but frequent questions I guess. There are no definite answer on that actually, since both are immaterial, it is hard to tell which one is a spirit and what is the soul is, usually interrelated with each other. Of course one this is sure that man is above animals being special in terms of intellect, will and emotion but I think as both share having a body, material both also have the immaterial part of it. I am saying this being a Christian, because there are passages in the scriptures that animals can dwell with the saints in God's kingdom.

I can only remember in the bible was when Jesus was curing a possess person , the bad spirit was thrown to the pigs which means that initially they have none but a spirit can enter their body which is still not a spirit of a pig or any animal.

I can only remember in the bible a situation when Jesus was curing a possessed person where the bad spirit was thrown to the pigs. which means that originally pigs have none but their body can be possessed as well, but they do not have a what you call pig spirit or any animals. In your passage that you mention, they can dwell but it did not states that they have one.

Thank you for your reply , thats the difference in having different religion, we are not taught like that. I have seen movies of american indians telling spirit of an eagle a lion and a bear going into the man but still we can think of them as product of imagination. But thank you for your reply. By the way are you a JICA Participant, just my question.

Animals are referred to as souls in the first chapter of Genesis. The words "living creature" in Genesis 1:21,24 were translated from the Hebrew words "chay nephesh" which means "living soul." A person and an animal are both wholly body and wholly soul when you can understand it from the original Hebrew view of it. Animals don't have a spirit, but humans do, that's why humans can communicate with God and form a relationship with him, he gave us a human spirit for that reason, besides the fact that it makes up the person we are,such as our character and personality, but animals don't have a spirit, that's why the're not able to form a relationship with God.

haha,,,i think we are animals too,, what came to your mind that made you think that we are not animals. so if you have a soul,they too have a soul. if you dont have a soul,they also dont have a soul,.. haha simple. now its a question to you. do you have a soul???

i'm sorry but I cannot consider myself as an animals, you can consider yourself animal if you behave like animals. I was taught as a kid as human and according to my teacher only humans have spirit. Sorry, but your basis is assumption.
