I'm experiencing this strange problem from past few days every time I start my PC. When I start the comp a black screen appears and displays CMOS settings error. It asks to press F1 to load default values or F2 to help. By pressing F1 it starts normally. I've scanned for viruses and spywares and it doesn't appear to be the problem. Have do I fix this ? Has any one had a similar problem?

you should do what lampshad3 says, but I wanted to add something with it because I believe she forgotten to say this.. When you have the battery out, you have to wait at least 10 minutes to make sure he's resetting the BIOS/CMOS settings. And never forget to take out the jumper on the motherboard as well, after you have tooked out the battery! Then the first thing you do after this 10 minutes is first carefully place the battery back, and after that place the jumper back. This will reset all your CMOS/BIOS settings, and everything will work fine. A Bios update is only needy, when your computer isn't recognising specific new hardware you bought, so I don't think that's the problem! Oh by the way, I know for 100% sure now what the problem is! I remember I had the same problem as you 2 weeks ago! This means FOR SURE your battery of the BIOS is EMPTY or almost EMPTY. You just have to buy a new one and replace this! This will reset your settings as well, and safe the new correct one. I am 100% positively sure that this will fix your problem! CheerS!

It happened to me long ago and the best solution i made was i reinstalled the operating system. After that, it worked perfectly. I don't see black screen anymore. Maybe your operating system was damaged.
