I know it's still a little far away, but this is my 1st year cooking Thanksgiving dinner on my own for my husband and I. So I'm a little nervous. lol. I like to plan way ahead, and I've already started thinking of some foods and dishes I can make. Does anyone have any ideas or suggestions?? Especially on how to make great turkey. Thanks!

The first thing that comes to mind is advice on what Not to do - learned the hard way. If you buy a frozen turkey, fill your sink with water and let it thaw out the day before you plan to cook it. Do not let it thaw out in the fridge. It only takes about 2 days in the fridge to go rotten and when you wake up in the morning the house reeks and you think you need a shower! LOL. What really goes nice with turkey is sweet potatoes mashed with brown sugar. Mmmmm almost tastes like dessert. Of course you will need pumpkin pie and you can buy a really good one that costs less than it would to bake it, plus you'll save a lot of time. Don't be nervous! He will be so happy that you put so much time and effort into it for him. :)
