What is your explanation about this?

More bad news get the headlines than the pleasant, good stories. I have my own thoughts about this, but I would like to hear yours. Do we have the propensity for the negative? Why are prime time news more popular when they're gory and grim (like plane crashes, sudden deaths, etc? The grimmer the more audience it attracts. Are we interested more on the negative side ? I believe that man is basically good , but how can you explain this phenomenon of our propensity to the negative and grotesque?
