hai skipperland i have worked in both vista as well as in windows xp.you know that in my syatem i am using windows xp.i recommend using that if you prefer to run some old games (like midtown madness ,nfs mw,--like that series)it is the windows xp that suited for you.also some good version of softwares that support xp wont support vista.but almost all that are supporting vista are supporting xp also. but as you have the huge amount of ram installed and a good processor vista will be better to bring out the right performance potential in your computer. anyway from the opinions of lot of my friends who have tried vista i recommend not to switch to vista.

I think xp is the best.It is perfect for the low end computers or laptops. It is much speedy than windows vista. It takes also less space like 3gb.Comparatively vista takes at least 10Gb disc space.Vista has a good look and some security updates over xp but it has a lot of bugs and it often crashes.Vista need a high end computer like a 3.0 ghz processor and a 1 gb ram.It also does not support all programs and dos.Vista is also very complicated for newbies.

What you need to consider the most is your pc performance. I think you may already know that vista consume more resources(RAM)than XP and if your pc had a low performance, you will encounter problem like system hang and crashing when using vista. If your pc have high ram and cpu, i suggest you go with vista. If not, XP is still ok.

XP is better Hands down I have both OS and I will tell you without a doubt that XP is the best. XP is more versatile but Vista is like a security freak. It asks you con confirm one thing like 5 times. I am not the largest fan. But on the other hand Vista is new and people should learn how to use new even if they don't Like it. RCF

i think that windows xp is better than wondows vista . there are various reasons behind this. i am using windows vista on my pc and have had some serious problems with it. first of all i really dont understand where to find certain things which were so easy in xp. there is also this problem of my system crashing again and again. i would say that you go with windows xp. and yes xp is also not that much of the power cruncher of your pc.
