Do you ever just listen?

Right now, as I am sitting here, my kids are in the front room singing. I love listening to them sing. I also love listening to them talk to each other when they don't know I am listening. You can hear some interesting stuff that gives you a little insight as to how they see the world. I remember once when I was a kid, I was playing my guitar in my bedroom. I walked out of my room and my dad was sitting there. I asked him what he was doing, he said he was just listening to me play. I thought that was the coolest thing ever. For some reason I never doubted that he cared about me after that. I just knew. Do you ever just listen to your kids play or sing?

Kids are a blast. Sometimes I'll catch them dancing and singing when they think no one is watching. Then they see you watching and get a little embarrassed. It is great to watch them in their own little world.

I do. But then my daughter shares most of her poetry with me, I think she holds some of that to herself but I am ok with that.
