The missing peso You found a shirt worth 97 pesos in a department store. Unfortunately, you don't have money so you borrowed 50 pesos to your Mom and 50 pesos to your Dad. So, you now have a Hundred pesos... you bought the shirt,so since it is just 97 pesos, you still have 3 pesos change... You returned 1 peso to your Mom and 1 peso to your Dad, and then you kept the remaining peso... You now have 49 pesos to return to your mom and also to you Dad... 49 + 49 = 98 + 1 which was left to you = 99 pesos, the question is, where is the PESO?? remember that it should be a hundred pesos..

the problem is the way the question is posed. What u are looking for here is realy just accountability. Youre logic was good right up until you started paying your friends back. Your debt (50+50) is 100 and u have three dollars. Therefore you give each one of your friends a dollar back which makes it (49+49) which does add up to 98. The problem is now the dolar left in your hand. It should be subtracted from the 98 not added as it is stil owed and you should be loking to get to 97 not 100. In the end 97 is the cost of the shirt and the amount you still owe.

-49 + -49 = -98 + 1 = 97 if you take back the 3 Pesos meaning taking 1 pesos from your mom,dad and your self now the equation is -50 + -50= -100 prove me wrong 49 is a loan and we all know a loan when paid is subtracted
